Mendel’s Hypercube: Futuristically named AI tool is developed for the clinical trial setting

Quick highlights:

  • Mendel is launching a new AI tool to be rolled out in 2024

  • The AI allows much more efficient data analysis, with users able to search with simple terms, with the AI then trawling complex physical and digital data for

  • You could input inclusion criteria and find patients for your trial faster

  • It’s been proven to work much faster than other AI models

Mendel, one of the emerging leaders in AI technology for healthcare (and clinical trials) is launching a new technology, named Hypercube. And no, it isn’t for space travel.

To put it simply (and then we can put it in technological language) Hypercube is a search function that allows you to type in simple, lay language, and find patients in the database that match your criteria. Because Mendel’s artificial intelligence compiles digital and physical data (think Dr’s notes, EHR etc) it safely allows the user to search the database with their request.

For example, “Find patients that have NSCLC and are on anti veg-f medication” will trawl data rapidly, and generate a report of those that match the criteria. Extremely useful for clinical trial recruitment, eligibility, patient matching etc

In more technical language, the AI co-pilot, Hypercube, employs a unique approach, merging large language modeling and symbolic AI to facilitate plain English queries for intricate cohort analysis. This aims to break free from the limitations of existing AI methods and redefine real-world data applications.

To validate Hypercube's technology, Mendel has partnered with oncologists at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, exploring its potential in patient data analysis and clinical trial screening. Early results suggest that this specific model (technically described as domain-specific models) can surpass other “generic large language models” and enhance efficiency at a scalable cost.

Mendel's Hypercube could reshape data analysis in the healthcare industry, with its official launch scheduled for the first quarter of 2024. The groundbreaking technology promises to make data analysis more intuitive and efficient while delivering valuable insights to healthcare and life sciences enterprises.
